Eclipse Phase: Transhumanity's Fate

ADD TO WISHLIST >
Selected Option:

In Transhumanity's Fate, you play secret agents protecting the scattered remnants of transhumanity from threats that could wipe it out once and for all. You might be a crusading hacktivist, an anarchist militia fighter, a planet-hopping xenoscientist, a psychic detective, or a social networker owed favors by all the right people. You’re a transhuman—a genetically modified human, an intelligent animal, a mind in a robotic shell, or even a bodiless artificial generalized intelligence. Your body is heavily upgraded, and your mind can communicate with every electronic device around it. You need every advantage, because you’re up against mutants infected with an alien virus, WMD dealers, corrupted AGI god-minds, shifty amoeboid alien merchants, rampaging alien wildlife, and the ultimate threat: transhumanity’s own self-destructive capabilities.

Firewall recruited you because you’re resourceful, you have needed expertise, or maybe you saw something you shouldn’t have but handled it well where most people would have fled in terror. Maybe you lost everything in the Fall, maybe you’re an idealist who thinks they can fix everything, or maybe you’re just looking for a good fight. You’ve passed our loyalty tests—for now—and proven you’re ready.

One thing we all agree on: transhumanity stands on the brink of extinction. We all feel called to act, and with a viewpoint that’s galactic, not local.

Extinction is coming. Will you fight it?

Transhumanity's Fate brings technothriller espionage and horror in the world of Eclipse Phase to the Fate Core system.

Join Firewall, and defend transhumanity in the aftermath of near annihilation by artificial intelligence!

Transhumanity's Fate requires Fate Core System from Evil Hat Productions.

(purchased but haven't really read it yet) Is there going to be an Eclipse Phase Fate? (like the main Eclipse Phase material converted to Fate)? Or just stand alones like this?

Asking in terms of how to file this in my folders (which is more by system and genre, with publisher being lower down in the higherarchy). Just wondering if I need to plan for more EC Fate material and the core EC stuff, in my Fate higherarchy... or not.

Hiya John!

We also have Xenovore's Fate, a Transhumanity's Fate-compatible adventure.

Right now we don't have plans for any other TF books, but almost all Eclipse Phase sourcebooks (Sunward, Rimward, Firewall, etc.) are absolutely fine to use with TF, as they're 80% setting material, and the heavier rules material doesn't really need to be converted to Fate.

Will there be a new version of this book to coincide with Eclipse Phase Second Edition?

Spenser — Transhumanity's Fate is edition agnostic, you can use it with the source material from either EP1 or EP2. We're not planning on updating it at this time!

That's excellent to hear, thank you for the fast response! I'll add all of the first edition materials to my list. Would you recommend picking up second edition materials as well if we're only planning on running Fate games?

The source material in Eclipse Phase Second Edition, Router Case Files, and other upcoming books is totally usable with Transhumanity's Fate.

The source material in Eclipse Phase Second Edition compared to First Edition is presented more concisely and organized differently.

If you want to grab just the source material from first edition, we offer it in a distinct title, A Time of Eclipse. All setting, no rules — and it's free: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/126799

Astonishing, I'll start parsing A Time of Eclipse then. I'll definitely be sinking a good deal of time into Eclipse Phase. Thank you again, I greatly appreciate your assistance with all of this.

Great product and setting. I have been using it for my transhumanism game along side the Interface Zero Book. The background for TITANS as well as the scary things that can happen, helps out on my game quite a bit.

I bought the book at DunDraCon last February and the seller said that most of the fate books I bought from him, most of the creators tend to throw in the PDF if asked. Do you give a deal on that, and if so, what can sort of deal can we come to?

Hey Shain! Sorry for the hangtime on this reply. All of our electronic books are Creative Commons-licensed, so you can snag the PDF from a friend or anywhere else on the web where you may find them freely-available. Or you can sock me an email to adam@posthumanstudios.com and I'll see what I can do for you. ;-)

Thanks.

Well, here it is, coming toward summer's end and still no book format or pod option. I'm giving up on this. So has the rest of our gaming group. Nova Praxis (Fate) it is then.

Due to the way the distribution system works, we actually don't have complete lists of stores that stock our books. Your best bet is to call your favorite local store and ask them to order a copy for you. That sort of personal interest does a LOT to help small/medium-press RPGs get supported in store.

Do you guys intend to release a Powered by the Apocalypse version?
I own EVERY hardcopy book you guys released! Like so many others here, I love the setting. But not the system.

I wish.
PbtA is my favorite RPG system. If there is a version of that system in a specific genre, that's my go-to. I like the Fate system, but my group is tired of waiting on a print version of this book. I have Uncharted Worlds along with several other PbtA games, and I have a pdf of Eclipse Phase, so I've been hacking a PbtA version of it. If I get enough done before this book ever gets a print option, I'm just going to say, "to hell with it," and use my hack.

Brian: We don't normally do PDF + Print bundles on books that we've done full offset print runs for logistical reasons, and also due to our Creative Commons licensing! If you don't want to pay for the PDF, you can simply have another gamer share it with you. :-)

Linus: We'll release a character sheet as a standalone download. We didn't want to cram it into 6x9", especially since space in the book was already at a premium, and few people actually photocopy sheets these days.

What are the chances we will see a morph recognition guide for this variant of the rules? Not a big deal as making morphs in this rules variant is extremely quick and easy, but I'm curious as I love the catalog layout of that guide for showing off morphs to players.

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I was waiting for to run EP. My group is generally all older with busy lives and we have transitioned away from overly crunchy games. I have loved the setting- I have the core, Panopticon and Transhuman in hardcover- but have never been able to run it because of the weight of the rule system. Now I can.

Are there any of the products in the overall product line that are less useful if you decide to only use the FATE version. I.e. They are very specific to the original rules set?

Transhuman has a lot of rules-related material (alternate character creation systems) that won't be useful to the Fate-player.

All the adventures can be mined for ideas, but obviously will take some translation, mechanically.

Firewall, Sunward, Rimward, Gatecrashing, and Panopticon lean heavily towards sourcebook as opposed to rulebook, although they all do contain some rules/stats. Those five books are where I suggest Fate groups dig deeper into Eclipse Phase!

Zone Stalkers and The Stars Our Destination have minimal rules as well. NPC File 1: Prime has a lot of stats, but also a lot of character ideas that may be useful.

I'd like to add that the alternate character creation system in Transhuman works GREAT with Fate. I was creating PCs for fun with the Lifepath rules, and if there are some modifications to make, the Aspects creation was a lot easier. The randomness factor helped a lot in sparking creativity and I ended up with really cool characters.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
pixel_trans.gif
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
